Brock Lesnar WrestleMania 39 Plans After Royal Rumble
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE seemingly had no plans to book the first ever clash between the GUNTHER and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Here what Dave Metzler stated about Brock Lesnar WrestleMania status after Royal Rumble.
"I mean, I can check on this again and will, but I was pretty much told that no Lesnar and Gunther. But I was not told; I have not been told Lesnar and Lashley, but Lesnar and Lashley is the one they are really pushing hard." [11:48 - 12:04]
However, Dave Meltzer further suggested that dream match between GUNTHER and Brock Lesnar could be saved up for a future date as WWE is leaning towards finishing up Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley triology.
"Yeah, and you could do one on one show, but it certainly felt like the Lashley one is the one they are really building up," added the veteran journalist. "The Gunther thing was just a tease that felt like, 'Someday, we've got this in our pocket; we could do it. The Lashley one felt like it was the WrestleMania match." Triple H About The Rock Status After Royal Rumble
On the Royal Rumble Post-Show Press Conference, WWE’s Chief Content Officer Triple H talked about that the reason they cannot get The Rock for the Royal Rumble. "The Game" Triple H stated that The Rock in very busy right now.
"He's incredibly busy. And I can say this as a guy that sort of, we kind of grew up as two young kids fighting each other for the spot, right, and having battles over it, and in the best way, pushing each other. We all were in that time," The Game said.
Triple H continued:
"There's a part of him that if he could be here for this, if he could be here for this WrestleMania in Hollywood, he would turn over every stone and walk through fire to be able to do it if he could. I just don't think it's in the cards. But then again, you don't know." (48:00-49:53)
Triple H also further added that the door is always open for The Rock in WWE, but he's just too busy.
"We'd love for him to be a part of it, right?
We'd love for him to be a part of it, right? He's the biggest star in Hollywood, maybe the most recognizable person on the planet. Why wouldn't we want him to be a part of it? This is his home, he has an open invitation. We don't lock the door. He has an open invitation to walk through it anytime he wants, but he's incredibly busy." (49:58-50:22) (H/T: Sportskeeda)
Reason Why Rey Mysterio Missed Royal Rumble 2023
Rey Mysterio was scheduled to be part of the 2023 WWE Royal Rumble Match but he failed to enter when his number came up, and the entrance theme was played. It was initially believed that Dominik Mysterio was behind his absence, but it appears that this wasn't the case.
According to the Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, The former world champion Rey Mysterio reportedly suffered an injury during Friday Night Smackdown, which was significant enough for him to be pulled from the match. It was also noted that WWE did have plans for Mysterio and his son to continue their rivalry as part of the Rumble match, but that didn't happen.
"Rey Mysterio was injured last night during the Loredo Smackdown tapings against Karrion Kross. He was going to be in the Rumble, but that spot was changed. What happened was they did a spot where he’s supposed to come out, but didn’t come out, and then Dominik comes out. I think they were supposed to do some teases with them at in the Rumble to set up their WrestleMania match." (H/T: Ringsidenews)
