Reported Reason Why Ricochet Won The IC Title, Update About WrestleMania Plans

On the last week's WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Ricochet won the Intercontinental Championship by defeating Sami Zayn. With this title win, Ricochet became the first superstar to win the NXT North American Championship, the US Championship, and the Intercontinental Championship.

According to the Ringside News reports, WWE decided to let the IC title change hands to remove the title from the feud between Sami Zayn and Johnny Knoxville, which was going on from months. 

Sami Zayn and Knoxville are set to face eachother at WrestleMania and the creative team didn't want to involve the title in that storyline. 

And for the newly-crowned IC champion Ricochet, the writers currently don't have any solid plans in place for him. It is expected that he will walk into WrestleMania with his title intact.
