On last week's Friday Night Smackdown, Apollo Crews demanded a rematch for IC Title match against Big E. On tonight's WWE Smackdown, Intercontinental Champion Big E returned and responded to the Crews challenge.
Big E called out Apollo Crews for the title match to happen tonight but Crews didn't responded to it. Then, Big E extend his open challenge and called out anyone wants the IC Title match, then, King Corbin came out to confront Big E but Sami Zyan also out for the match.

Both Sami and Corbin argued on the ramp, Big E announced that whoever enters the ring first will get title match. Then, Sami rushes towards the ring and got the match.

However, Big E successfully defended his Intercontinental Title against Sami Zyan but after the match, Apollo Crews brutally attacked Big E and sent a big message.

After the show, Apollo Crews had backstage interview, he said that he accepts Big E challenge and that match will happen at WWE Fastlane. Then, WWE officially announced that Big E will defend his Intercontinental Title against Apollo Crews at WWE Fastlane 2021 pay-per-view, which will take place on March 21st, Sunday.
